What happens if I do not pay my Library fines?

President’s Decision No. 13/2009 addresses the issue of unpaid debts by researchers, faculty and staff leaving the European University Institute.

  • Diplomas and Certificates: The EUI will not issue doctoral, LL.M., M.Res. diplomas, or any academic certification until all relevant services confirm that the researcher has met their obligations under current regulations.

  • Outstanding fines from fellows, faculty and staff: Any unpaid fines may be deducted from the final financial settlement by other EUI services.

  • Returning researchers must settle all outstanding fines in full before their Library account can be reactivated.
