How do I renew my library loans?

Check due dates:

Sign in to My Library Account to see when each item on loan is due.

Standard loan period:

Most books can be borrowed for 30 days and renewed for up to 12 months, unless they are:

  • On course reserve
  • Part of special collections
  • Requested by another user

How to renew:

  • Loans are not renewed automatically
  • Go to My Library Account → Loans → Renew to extend your loan
  • Overdue items can still be renewed, but fines may apply if the 5-day grace period after the due date has passed

Restrictions:

You cannot renew your loans if:

  • You have received a recall notice
  • Your account is close to expiration
  • You have reached the maximum number of renewals
  • Your fines exceed €50

Interlibrary Loans (ILL):

To request a renewal, email requill@eui.eu at least one week before the due date.
ILL items can only be renewed if:

  • The request is made in advance 
  • The lending library approves the extension
